OnLive is a streaming game distribution service that runs the games on a server farm and then dumps the videostream to the player. This offloads the heavy lifting (read: processors speed / video rendering) from the player and allows you to run AAA titles on old computers. This comes with the inherent problems one might expect.. namely server lag. It's not awful.. but I also wouldn't pay too much for a game on this platform.

Well, the company recently held a contest to see if it could gain 10,000 Facebook likes in a three day window.. It did.. and because of that all current members are able to get a "Full Pass" game for only $1. Now, I've never purchased a game through the service, so I popped on in and grabbed my $1 game: Duke Nukem Forever.. there were probably better choices.. but I've got a lot of nostalgia for the series. so...

All in all, I'm having a blast (pun intended) with the game. I'm going to look into getting one of the OnLive consoles so I can "get my game on" in the living room.

Anyway, for those with an OnLive account (in the US), go grab your game. For those that haven't yet made an account, go create an account here and click "Like" on their Facebook page here. Chances are good that you'll still get your $1 game.

BTW: I'm running Duke Nukem Forever on my 2ghz Pentium IV.. Plays great. :)
